I have seldom tried to create an exact style of sailboat. I feel sailing is more a thing of beauty than just a constructed object in the water. The combination of the wind in the sails, the shape of the hull, and the way the water gently moves against the hull creates art that has so often inspires artist of all forms. I try and create the beauty of sailing in my works and I hope you see that beauty when you look at what I have done. This "thru-sail" design was a long time coming. I had it partially done a few years before I finally finished it. I just couldn’t get the balance right. Then one day it just all came together. At first I did this piece in all yellow gold. Within six months of selling it I got several requests for a smaller version and also for one with a white gold sail. I have done both now and I am very proud of all of them. This is the only one where I have added both a ruby and an emerald representing Port and starboard lights. In the photographs we can’t see down into the cockpit but I feel sure you will enjoy the additional detail once you have it in you hands. I photographed this piece using one type of chain on the front photograph and another type on the reverse. I did this in hopes of showing off the versatility of how the looping sail works.
